AladdinAl Haffar
Aladdin Al Haffar is a PhD researcher in the Photonics Research Group at Gent University and IMEC. His research focuses on harnessing the potential of photonics as computation hardware, with a particular interest in photonic circuits design and programmable photonics.

His academic background is B.Sc. in physics and M.Sc. in laser sciences and applications from Damascus University. He further pursued his passion for photonics by earning a second M.Sc. in photonics engineering from VUB and UGent, where he received recognition for academic excellence through the VUB scholarship.

Aladdin's current PhD project, "Programmable wavelength filters in general-purpose photonic processors," involves developing techniques and algorithms for practical applications using photonic chips. His previous research includes optical data encryption and two-photon polymerization-based 3D nano-printing for fiber optic applications.
