Dr. Giorgio Signorello (Postdoctoral Researcher)
This person worked in the group from 2019 till 2021.
My work is focused on identifying industrial challenges which can be addressed with spectroscopic gas sensing and leveraging the silicon photonics platform.
Throughout my career I worked on different topics at the intersection between technology and applied physics. I developed optical sensor technology at ABB Corporate Research (Switzerland) and contributed to establishing MicroGauge AG, a vacuum pressure sensor technology start-up (Switzerland). At IBM Research (Switzerland) I studied the effect of stress on III-V devices and monolithic semiconductor integration. At ABB Corporate Research (Switzerland) I tested contact materials for high-voltage circuit breakers. My passion for technology started fabricating and measuring high TC superconducting devices at the Microtechnology Center at Chalmers MC2 (Sweden). I was awarded with a PhD from University of Basel (Switzerland) in 2013 and the METAS prize 2014 for Metrology from the Swiss Physical Society. I studied physics engineering at Politenico di Milano (Italy) and nanoscience at Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden).
